TALE 49 - Her High'ness

Based in the era of early 80's
She was a daughter of a well settled household with an accountant dad and an articulate disciplined homemaker mom.
She had a sister who was below average in understanding and poor in studies...
The mom was overtly protective about her weak younger kid
The dad was overtly ambitious for his smart elder kid
This lead to a difference in the way these girls were raised...
At one point she felt the pressure to perform and sometimes out perform her smooth moving progress trail academically and otherwise
At the same time she craved for the unconditional love and attention that her younger sister received inspite of not doing well in anything what so ever...
Bright in studies and smart in extracurriculars she excelled in the achievement graph of her era...
When she joined college... She had tons of options to choose from when it came to selecting her beau...
She fell for a guy in her own building...
He stayed on the same wing right across her balcony...
He was one of the many siblings that were raised in a household with conventional thinking and traditional set up...
He had to take up a job early in life to support his family and he did so sincerely...
Since he came across financial independence early in life, he took up some vices of smoking and below average company...
Labour class friends and people very elder in age to him were his comrades...
Chewing tobacco, playing cards, smoking and watching action films filled his otherwise mundane life of night college and day shifts with excitement...
She used to come to his house for watching the new craze Doordarshan.
They were an item before they could know it...
Yes it was youth... It was blood surge... It was all emotions and love dope...
They dated...
She got selected for an airline as cabin crew...
Her dad was elated...
It was obvious she'd take it up with no second thoughts...
But her love said, "I don't want my future wife to be a well paid waitress. You'd rather sit at home and raise kids rather than serve people in the air."
She rejected the job offer.
She completed her graduation in psychology and joined government service.
He kept working...
They told about their involvement at their houses.
Her family opposed, they thought she deserved better...
His family had no choice, but they knew the way she was raised so hence had their concerns...
The love birds stuck to their commitment got married
Rented a house and started their life...
Second month into marriage she realised that she is pregnant and his company had shut down...
This lead to stressful months of her job while carrying their child and his stay at home status...
He would be outraged with his ego being hurt as he fed on his wife's salary...
He was upset when a baby girl was born thanks to his conventional upbringing...
They decided to let her parents raise their daughter in the interest of what was best for the little one...
They continued their marriage filled with moments of letting down and emotional challenges...
He had anger management issues and major inferiority complex
He never ever was motivated to do better in career or take higher challenges in his future jobs...
She on the other hand unfortunately was in a time where marriages were meant to be for life and even if they weren't working on, they needed to be pulled on...
Unhappy marriages which stayed intact were also labelled successful then...
Today as he retires and she still has some more years into her government service they continue being husband and wife...
Out of habit out of being comfortable of the known devil that is....
She just has one thing to thank for...
Her parents who raised her daughter into a fabulously independent young woman.
She did get one gift to look upto from this life...
Her free spirited offspring...
Now she is Happy smile emoticon
