Tale 65

It was a Business Family...
The eldest brother of the 4 siblings established the business empire...
Since most of his productive years went in working hard for the business setup he had to marry last...
Till then all his younger brothers had settled well with marriage and kids...
Though the eldest in the family his baby boy was the youngest in the next generation...
He named the child Soham...
As little Soham grew up, the family dynamics became complex and all the brothers partied ways...
Soham's father, the eldest brother couldn't take this betrayal and suffered a stroke, got paralysed and bedridden...
His wife stayed strong and decided to support the family.
She started a small catering business to ensure unobstructed education for Soham.
She understood quite early that Soham did not have any great affiliation to studies...
Hence instead of wasting their time in making him pursue academics further to graduation she asked him to start a business set up early...
Paralysed, bedridden, nonetheless the father could always guide Soham in his new venture...
A notable point about Soham was that he was extremely handsome...
His mother warned him not to fall in love as there is rough road for him in future...
At his marriageable age, they had a condition that the wife should have Business Acumen...
Many MBA ,beautiful, rich girls were proposed to Soham by his cunning relatives to show sympathy....
But his  parents had worldly wisdom, they didn't select anyone...
In the meanwhile Soham's mother's friend who was not rich hesitantly proposed a girl...
The girl was a business partner with her brother, had higher academic qualifications.....
BUT.....THERE was a BIG BUT in between...
At her tender age in an accident at home she had burnt her one side of face....
Her name was Ksipra
She was sure he will never choose her...
But...she was given a Green signal...
Ksipra's parents made their doubts clear that she shouldn't be given any inferiority complex because of her looks...
There was this extremely good looking Soham and then there was Kshipra with a partially burnt face...
The prospective couple met many a times and came to an agreement... Kshipra will continue to be in brother's business and also help Soham to establish his own...
When they both are confident about their enterprise, Kshipra would leave her brother's business and join Soham full time...
Happiness entered the four souls...
After few years they realized natural conception was not possible...
So they decided to adopt Twin sons....
The adoption agency was puzzled with the condition...
But as Paulo Coelho says...
Entire Universe Conspires for Good...
They found twins, their mother had died at birth in the hilly region of Meghalaya and their father relinquished the sons...
These twins were united with Soham and Kshipra  after legal formalities....
Now the new grandparents take care of the kids during dawn hours of the day as they wake up early with their advanced age...
At that time Soham and Kshipra get good sleep and then everybody is lively the whole day...
There were challenges in the lives of both the families however they completed each other's shortcomings by coming together...
Yes marriage can be a blessing...
Not everyone needs to study to be successful and not all girls with tragic pasts end up lonely...
Destiny to Destination... We r the path finders!

Tale 60

Dr. Hrishi and Dr. Deepa were expert  surgeons in oncology
While dating in medical college they had decided to dedicate all their productive years to the medical field and hence not have a child
Hence they opted for adoption after marriage
They adopted a baby boy and maintained a fairly balanced family life thanks to their capability of hiring good domestic help
Parenting was shared mutually with deep understanding of their respective demanding careers
The boy was an introvert but quite bright in intelligence
They named him Shlok
In the mean while Hrishi's younger sister Reema got divorced
She was a stay at home mom to her only daughter Srishti
Hrishi got them both back to his house
Now Shlok got a new playmate with Srishti living with them
Both Dr.Deepa and Dr.Hrishi felt better that they now had someone near and dear to look after the kids with Reema staying with them
It was a close knit family unit with each of them counting on each other for day to day support
Reema didn't want to remarry so Hrishi never forced her to do so...
Little Srishti was a complete opposite to her cousin Shlok
She was a total chatterbox, outspoken and loved to mingle with people
She wasn't good in studies however was excellent in extra curricular..
Shlok on other hand engaged in extensive reading and studies and was extremely sure of what he wanted to do in future
Going further Dr.Hrishi and Dr.Deepa were pleasantly surprised when Shlok their adopted son took up medicine and successfully joined them in the field of super specialised oncological surgery
While Srishti fell in love with Shlok's fellow batchmate Dr.Willbert
Srishti and Willbert couldn't conceive naturally and no medical procedure sustained a pregnancy...
Shlok by then came out of his shell and strongly stood by them convincing them for adoption...
He was with his cousin and his best friend at every step of adoption.
They adopted a baby girl and named her Tvisha
Shlok has decided to not marry and dedicate his life to medical field while playing a dotting 'MAMA' to the family's newest addition Tvisha.
This is how some families are made
Because Nature and Nurture are interwoven...
We need to make the best out of it..

Tale 59

Highschool sweethearts joined university together...
They also happened to be in the same field
Research in Human computer interaction...
Both passionate about their profession decided to wait getting hitched till they got well established in profession...
Post grads while taking up teaching hours in campus made life busy but fulfilling...
Being one of the brightest in their batch they got scholarships and full waivers along with fantastic funding for their PhD
Years passed they were amazed as to how smooth life was being together as a couple and living together for so many years, yet maintaining amazing chemistry...
They decided to get married soon after their Post Doc.
In their Early thirties they obviously didn't want to wait more to start a family...
So the good news followed soon...
Life seemed getting happier by the day working in their dream professions and being with each other...
A boy was born...
He had Muscular Dystrophy.
Ironical that they were the torch bearers of modern technology but a catastrophe had struck...
Tests revealed that both of them were carriers of that syndrome and hence it manifested in the baby.
Parenting such a child would mean that one of them had to sacrifice career for being a primary care provider for many years from then onwards
In this case since it was a boy, he opted to be a stay at home dad for their first born and she decided to go ahead to provide for their family
Taking this decision was painful for both of them but they had to be strong for the sake of their baby
The genetic reports also indicated that they cannot have another child since chances of reoccurrence of the inheritable disorder were high...
He cooked cleaned did the laundry took the child for physiotherapy filled up the groceries and gave 100 percent to the household
Scholar that he was, he made sure that he did everything with perfection even beyond his professional expertise...
Not once did he mention of missing working in his favorite field.
He in fact suggested her that they should adopt a second child
She agreed and they adopted a baby girl after two years...
It was a happy family where everyone was precious...
Now they have enrolled themselves for Research on Muscular Dystrophy...
As dramatical as it may sound, the adopted girl went on to become one of the leading scientists in the medical fraternity to do outstanding clinical research on Muscular Dystrophy...
Some tales refuse to be labelled as victimized...
The fittest aren't just the ones that survive...
Everyone does...
Well, most of them do...
And with such grace...

Tale 58

They were a modern day couple. Same aged young people with equally ferocious personal ambitions but mismatched in temperaments in their approach to life and the drama that involves in the making of it...
They had tensions between them
Apparent stressors that were not solvable
They dragged their issues for days months and years...
Stayed under a single roof for heck of it...
Known devil was better they thought...
Their only problem was when it came to living with their family members for functions or festivals,
they feared their incoherence would set out open in front of them...
Lone time together was dreaded by them since they knew they had nothing to share except an occasional physical need of sexual gratification...
Then they went on to becoming strangers from bedroom partners to house mates...
She got a high by seeking emotional connection outside...
She thrived on making connections while he found solace in burying himself in corporate world and disconnecting from human contact unless and until it was absolutely inevitable...
He got a high by climbing up the ladders of commercial success...
She wanted to step out and break free...
She had almost made up her mind...
But their only daughter's face held her helplessly within the faint boundaries of a bond long broken...
She attended all functions with a bright fake smile and kept in touch with all folks from his side
He knew her as someone who was a perfect home maker and was confident of her attributes of making his house a home.
He knew that she was a wonderful mom to his daughter and a best friend to tons of people around who counted on her as their ultimate confiding mate.
He wondered as to why she could make wonderful connections all around and have a grand club of besties while he had not even a single good friend around...
He secretly feared that her free spirited attitude could surpass her domestic security and she would let go of him and their marriage in a jiffy...
She would share her utmost desires in front of him with no inhibitions...
She never feared to disclose her innermost crushes fantasies and feelings about anyone to him...
He felt proud of himself that he had been such a good husband that she could be comfortable in telling him everything...
She always believed that being honest was the best way to keep stress at bay...
He knew she had hoards of men who desired to be with her dearly...
He expressed his fears openly to her to which she replied with confidence...
It is the vibes that people get attracted with and not just the exhibitory parameters...
She believed in being open about her minutest feelings and was sensitive about how anything made her feel...
If it did not feel right she left the place or the situation or the person...
If someone desired her it is their free will, who are we to object or control it??? She said...
You chat with them and they get the wrong signals... They take your neutral stand as encouragement....he said....
To which she replied, if their desires are laced with any expectations so be it... Its their karma... Let them face it.... I have no role to play...
I will trust my gut feeling come what may...she said...
He pondered...of everything, it was just the marriage that she stuck on....
Did it feel right? He wondered...
Was she being spiritual or free spirited? He questioned...
Was she a risk to be attached to?
He asked himself...
He had many questions in mind...
She never bothered as to why he behaved in a way he did.
He kept being baffled by the mystery that she was...
She told him everything yet he felt that there was something more...
He never told her anything yet she felt she knew him enough...
He resorted to books to find the dynamics of relationships and kept living in fear
She resorted to experiences that life gave to find out the meaning of NOW and kept living in happiness
Both of them live together...
Both of them never complained...
But in spite of being together they are leading drastically different lives...
Just another urban tale of contemporary complexities...

He would mentor her in music and in turn she would oblige him with company
It was a give and take...
She got an expert coach while he got another chance to live his youth...

TALE 55

She put the glass on the table and lit a cigarette...
She wasn't enjoying her drink at all...
Uff!!! Can't get over him she said as she inhaled a long snuff of smoke...
She had seen him stand in the corner of d party hall in tattered clothes unkept hair and an almost rag like piece of cloth
He held it in his hands like a carry sack in anticipation of tying up some food packet or half eaten morsels off the bin basket near the exit door...
He must have been around 10 years old...
It was her niece's first birthday party...
There was a lavish spread across various corners of the banquet serving international cuisine...
Then there was a candy floss man, a chocolate fountain, an ice cream truck and an enormously huge princess themed cake which was served by well trained waiters...
The party was in full swing with balloons tattoos return gifts puppet show n return gifts...
He stood there with just one feeling in his eyes... Hunger...
It did not matter if it was a deliacy or a stale bread...
He needed fuel for his tiny frame...
Before anyone would notice him to shoo him off the premises she noticed him...
Wondering how he could sneak fooling the security at the gate, she approached him with an urgency...
She could sense how hungry he was...
Half way through she thought of the futility of asking him his choice of cuisine...
First she thought of offering him a plate of whatever she could put in one...
But then where would he eat???
Then she thought of putting things in a polythene n handling him...
But how could she give him eveeything in a bag...
They had neither containers nor disposable plates...
So she quickly called him near a changing room near the banquet exit...
She asked him to sit there n wait for her.
She quickly piled on as much food she could in a plate n gave him...
He ate with haste and speed...
His teeth couldn't keep up with his hands n hence he swallowed much n gulped the cold drink to wash it down quickly...
He made noise while he ate and she could see as to how much a human can salivate while eating...
It must have been a long period of starvation...
He was clearly wanting to finish all but he couldn't...
She asked him if there was anything that he liked particularly for her to pack it for him to which he refused... It would get bad outside... We don't have a cold cupboard...he said...
To which she smiled...asked him of he went to school...
He said NO...there are some Didi's who come to teach us footpath kids once a month that's it... But we prefer to not waste time...
She asked him about what he did all day and also asked him about his parents...
I was found by a roadside dustbin here in this area by an old lady who kept me as a means of begging...
She died when I was young but I was looked after by the begger friends around...
Now I beg too... I wipe car windows n dashboard at times to ask for money...
I sleep with many homeless friends around...
Sometimes there is good money sometimes there is none...
He told in a neutral tone...
She was restless....
There was something in his green eyes that struck her, reminded her and moved her deeply...
He did not look like a roadside kid...
He looked like a blue blooded young lad dressed like a begger for a fancy dress competition...dressed to win...
Just that he was for real...
She ushered him out of the gate n joined the party...
She couldn't focus...she wasn't in her elements...
She kept thinking about those brilliant big green eyes...
And they reminded her about him...
And how they had met at an excursion back in highschool...
He was a local at the hill station and she was a tourist visiting his place for a few days on a highschool project...
An out grown teen that she was and a hot blooded rowdy guy that he was...hormones won over self control...they got busy after study hours...Both thought that it was a mistake
She came back to her city routine almost trying to forget all about him...
No she did not get pregnant neither did she run back to him...
Many boyfriends and a series of relationships later she realised that she never really forgot her first experience...
She kept remembering him throughout...
And today this young pre teen boy reminded her of her first...
Not in any sexual way but as to having doubts as to why was he abandoned?
Could he have been an illegitimate child of him born to a city girl like her and then abandoned???
Could he be his younger brother or maybe a lost close relative of his?
She felt like revisiting the hill station to search for him...
She felt like taking this young guy there to try to find possibilities of searching his roots...
Such stark similarity was rare...
She was shaken...
So she confessed this to her sister at her place as they opened the gifts post party that night...
They pondered over it for a while and let out a sigh...
They knew she wouldn't do anything that she thought she would...
She wouldn't even help the boy reach a shelter for homeless...
It was way to difficult and complicated...
She was too busy with her life profession and complexities to adhere to possibilities of giving life another chance to turn a new leaf...
Not for herself not for that young boy...
Why she didn't???
Well, that's her choice isn't it...?
She he and him were leading lives obviously oblivious to each other... Yet strung together like mismatched beads on a string that life was...
Some tales are just like that...and by the way...
