Tale 57

At one of the most prestigious colleges in a city full of hopes dreams and glam he studied literature and played saxophone
She also from a similar academic background was an Odissi dancer 7 years junior to him in college
When he was in MA part 2 she joined in her first year in junior college
He was a carefree no strings attached vagabond who lived independently in the city on his own in his ancestral apartment
He had a series of flings since his school days and wasn't new to having a girl in his life...
While she was used to having admirers all around, some her fans others her followers
Never oblivious of the fact that almost everyone around desired to be with them individually made them confident attractive dashing personalities
No one was surprised for a fact that they got to know about each other, noticed, observed, followed and then eventually fell for each other...
Her elder cousin was in his group so it was easy for them to hang out during and after college...
Since he lived alone they got to explore all levels of attraction and experience intimate relationship very early...
While he was almost neutral about continuing in the affair, she was hell bend on giving it a name
On her insistence they got married...
He got busy in work and music while she got tied up with being a wife and a mother to their 3 lovely daughters...
As time passed He took up to alcohol and she got attracted to other men
Though the reasons for his addiction and her infidelity were mutually exclusive, they had somewhere lost it as a couple...
Life being monotonous with a growing family and increasing needs he found solace in binge boozing and she in flirting and casual stands...
Both knew what was up in each other's lives...
They tried to pull on but weren't up for the friction that their individual quirks created...
The daughters were in their teens by then...
They decided to separate...
The eldest one chose to stay with him while the two younger ones opted to go with their mother...
They did not keep in touch however the daughters and the mother were always a team...
Years passed He grew old retired from his Airline job and rejoined a private firm as a consultant
He kept himself busy with work in the day and social networking at night...
Now nearing his 75 th year as an old man he came across a young dynamic talented female on a social media site...
He sent her a friend request...
She studied his profile
Observing that he is a senior musician she accepted it without a second thought
She was a writer and he started reading her work...
Page after page he understood the depth of her thought process and the reach of her imagination impressed him thoroughly
Incidentally she was trying to find her ground in music at the same time
She was struggling with techniques of playback
She did have a unique voice
He fell head over heels with her
He loved every bit of her existence looks writing and above all her vibrations
He got tremendous positivity from her
She was the same age as his youngest daughter
She addressed him with respect and understood his feelings however obviously never reciprocated
He openly confessed his love for her and understood that probably it was insane to accept the fact that a girl like her could never fall for an elderly man like him
What could be done?
They made a pact...
He would mentor her in music and in turn she would oblige him with company
It was a give and take...
She got an expert coach while he got another chance to live his youth...
It was a practical deal for her while an emotional matter for him
They had nothing to lose
They helped each other in overcoming the shortcomings in each other's lives
A planned barter, a win win relationship
No one exploited anyone
There was just Music and Company
Today he proudly launched her first music album on the eve of his 75th Birthday...
A gift for both of them
They are happy for each their and more so for themselves
Sometimes happy tales happen to random people at the right time
