TALE 22 - Nip in the bud...

They first met on a Bangalore bound train.
Freelancers on a project.
She was just out of a breakup, elated to travel alone...

He was a junkie;
Randomness was routine for him.
He slept a lot, almost throughout; like a baby...
Which she sneak peeked to see and blush.
She watched back to back movies on his laptop.
But still those 16 hours were fun...
Sharing food...
Caring in small ways...
Gaming...
And lots of fun talk.
Something in his eyes caught on to her mysteriously....
The way He said 'I love you' to His girl had laid a spell on her....
His sense of humour had kept her in giggles throughout.
The man was just trying to charm her to have some fun later.
But she was naive....
Out of a traumatic relationship, she was just too gullible.
She understood no tricks.
He succeeded...
Got what he was trying so hard for.
But, she lost....
Silly she....
She thought it was LOVE.
After all she dint know what Friends with Benefits meant.
All she knew was u make love when you actually LOVE!!
After this episode she separated the words Love n Sex...
A silly theory out of nowhere to not get physical with the person she liked to make sure there is no mix up of emotions...
She thought she nailed it here...
She thought she had found the sure shot formula of happiness and singledom...
Silly she...never found out why she could never be happy again...
One night stands with strangers who's name she wouldn't remember the day after...
She wondered y she was up unhappy inspite of waking up with a different man every morning...
She had flings with men she was sure she'd never fall in love with.
Silly she...
She never let the guy that genuinely cared for her to even hold her hand...
Ultimately randomness became her way of life...
It was a contagious thing...
Junkies creating junkies...
Silly he silly she and silly all others that caught it...
Silly reality....
Some tales aren't that silly...

TALE 21 - Perfect 3...

Honey... She said can I please have pancakes right now?
He looked at the watch with droopy eyes...
2 am...

You've got it babe, he said with a melting smile

A few mins later he carried her in his arms to the dinning table...
Here you are, he said...
Hot pancakes with a vanilla icecream scoop and chocolate drizzle...
Here have it, said he lovingly feeding her every spoon with immense joy n warmth
He again carried her to bed, this time to hold her; placing their hands on her huge belly,

to sing a song she loved to hear...

"Two steps behind" he hummed gently as he made her sleep
Covering her with a quilt,he proudly saw the gorgeous glow that she had got...
He ensured every night that her socks were on, to keep her warm and the back support pillows were in place
Some nights he would read out to her, sometimes short stories, at times poems...
Some nights were meant for songs
Some for instrumental music that they both loved The Harp
She knit tiny booties and a cape n he helped her select her the color...
Daisy yellow n white wool, they said...
Would be perfect for a both a girl or a boy...
He cheerfully painted her toe nails knowing that she liked looking pretty but couldn't do it herself because of the growing belly...

They would go for short walks in the outdoors just enough to keep her active...

He took care of every other thing in the house...

She was allowed to have icecream for breakfast and asking for soup after dinner was alright...
Pregger cravings were well taken care off...
Her wishes were fulfilled to the T
Midnight demands were,
Cookies with milk, hot chocolate with marshmallows, waffles with maple syrup n cream, caramel custard, soufflé...
Her list was endless...
And so was his love...
For her and for their tiny little unborn bundle of joy...
It was a dreamy blissful heavenly period for both...
He was on a leave for her final trimester to give her company...
She was thrilled n relaxed on having him in these final months...
Yes he was an army man
No nothing dramatic happened...
Neither was he called for war at the time of delivery...
Nor did she die at childbirth...
The journey had an equally beautiful outcome...
A bonny healthy baby girl...
And what a perfect family it was...
Proud parents and one lucky baby...
A happy mushy sweet tale of joy...
Isn't it???

TALE 20 - Dead calm...

He sat with his legs crossed on the pavement right across her balcony
Untouched unmoved undisturbed...
He never exhibited a single expression on his face...
This made him obviously unobtrusive...
She approached him with some hesitance...
Wary of his unkept looks but somewhere confident about his impending sanity she cautiously put forth a subtle hello...
This kind of sudden warmth dazzled him at first...
But being as non judgemental as he was he replied with a neutral Hi...
She wanted to know his story...
The reason for his royal looks being tattered to wilderness
His deep blue eyes were unnerving
And so were his auburn brown hair
He by no way could be an ordinary man she thought
Would he be a poet, a nobleman, a musician, a heartbroken lover, an abandoned prince??? she thought...
He on the other hand completely incognizant of her interest in him sat in his usual nullness
She was intruding in a way
But he wasn't the kind who bothered
While she thought if offering him a meal would break the ice, He thought of nothing but his next meal
Without uttering a word she offered him some broth and bread
He took it right away and ate it in peace
He did not care to thank
However she had her expectations right in place...
Next day she smiled at him but he kept his gaze constant without letting a single line on his face move...
She was taken aback...
She was used to judging people...
She again offered him some soup
The instance repeated...
And this went on for days on the end....
He never uttered a single word of gratitude
While her desperation to know more about him rocketed sky high
He had all emotions in her ignited...
Emotions of anger rage sometimes even hatred...
She wondered why she kept feeding him...
So she stopped offering him food...
He remained the way he was...
He did look out for food and got it any which ways...
She however never remained the same...
Would she die if she had never known him?
Would he die if she had never fed him?
Probably no...
Would it make a difference if he ever had a conversation with her???
We never know...
But what we definitely know is...
That whatever his story was being non judgemental made his life easier... And being otherwise made her life not so easy...
Way to go folks...
Not all tales have a story to please...

TALE 19 - Hotchpotch

She was searching for a suitable match.
He came in her life quite unexpected.
He was the best friend of one of her matrimonial pursuits;
Sweet coincidences got them connected.
He loved her to bits;
She slept peacefully with him, laughed, clicked, the chemistry was strong...
But little did realise she was in love with him.
After all;she was searching for a husband material which he wasnt....
She broke his heart to do what she had resolved to do;
Finding the right one for the I Do.
She friendzoned him.
He accepted it.
Next was a NRI with an Indian heart n a great family;
The most perfect...
He wooed her...
Made promises.
Families met and the wedlock was getting planned.
This time she felt she is in love with the right one.
Aww; but the right one broke her heart...
He backed out without a valid reason...
Oblivious of her own feelings;
she went back to her friendzoned love to recouperate from this heartbreak.
He was there;
But this time;only as a friend.
She felt crushed n sad...
She was confused.
Why did his indifference affect her? Was she in love with him?
If it was love...
Why did she leave him earlier?
If she did leave him...
How can she be in love?
Was she attracted only because he was unavailable?
She asked...
But this time he pulled out.
She got entangled in her own questions.
All she knew was that she missed him to bits n pieces...
But his role in her life was over.
She had to accept this twist of fate...
And keep searching...
Helplessly courageously with faith or without...
The search had to be on...
She said to herself...
"I've learnt a lesson...
That husbands are often 'not the right ones & 'The right ones' are almost always NOT HUSBANDS..."
Sigh...

TALE 18 - Revert...

She was a sonnet
In his superpersonal dairy
Her voice was music to his ears
She was a dream that he saw every waking hour

She was enticingly invigorating

She was a glass of wine he'd pour after a long day at work
She was the most cozy person he'd like to rest his head upon
She was someone he'd like to sleep with and wake up to every day for the rest of his life
Her smile lit up his day
Her laugh cheered up his mood
Everything his was related to and depended upon HER..
Such a HE would be a prince charming for many...
But...
This charming prince had another side to his coin...
He called her
Nagged her
Stalked her
Followed her everywhere
Virtually physically emotionally
He got cranky when he wouldn't get to see her
He would get restless if he didn't get to meet her
He would go mad if she'd talk to anyone else
He wanted her...
And wanted her so badly...
To possess her was his motto...
And he tried every way he could
Such stories end with the END of either of the two.
This time it was different.
She could've hated him
She could ve got rid of him
But vengeance wasn't her flavor
She was empathetic but strong
She took control
She understood that he needed help, befriended him
Showed compassion
Took him to a Shrink
Fortunately he listened to her
Because he'd do anything for the person he loved
And...this story was...
Not so dramatically CURED...
- Prajakta Sathe.

TALE 17 - Seasoning.

She married her childhood sweetheart, remained a one man woman for 17 yrs of her life. Divorced at 30 she had deep scars and a deeper need to be held.
She resolved; to find the right match...
All she craved for was being loved...
Longed to rest in strong arms that assured and reassured

That he ll be there for her
And actually be there for her
To tell her that they'll be fine
And everything will be alright...
Next 2 years;
5 major heartbreaks n a few smaller ones; her rematrimonial adventures were gory.
Some became friends
Some acquaintances
Some soulmates
Few besties
Yet another handful awkward exes...
Some turned out to be strangers
Some were deliberately forgotten
But a few were remembered on purpose
And there were others hard to erase from her memory...
Sigh....
But she had strengthened;
she had hardened;
she had learnt...
She now sleeps restlessly....
alone...
incomplete...
But completely ripened in her loving immaturity...
- Prajakta Sathe.

TALE 16 - One all...

She was vivacious....
She was the life of a party...
She made every moment light with her quirks, smirfs, giggles and more...
She cooked read books created aesthetic nooks had ravishing looks...

She was a struggler...
She was hardworking....
She was down to earth...
She was loving...
She was understanding...
She was quite an inspiration...
They felt she would be amazing as a life partner...
But they didn't know who she actually was;
She knew...
So she smiled and said I'm happy being single; I love my independence...
She never wondered if the grass was greener on the other side...
She was happy tending n mending her own garden...
She loved to bask in the fragrance of blossoms she grew...
She knew herself so well...
Well... Some stories don't have any more characters...
Seemingly incomplete
But oh so Complete on their own...

TALE 15 - Three...

He held her hand as they heard the racing heart beats of the baby in her womb
The sight on screen was unclear because both of them already had tears
Teeny weeny sac with some movements
This is it... Said she
Its life... Right here inside me...
And he smiled, "I know"...
The radiologist had no expression on his face...
"Is everything alright?", he asked...
"We need to talk", the doctor said...
Back at home that evening he made her sit...

N explained everything...
There is a deformity, it is a syndrome and we have a choice.
They did make a choice...
They happily accepted to keep the baby...
They talked with the baby in d womb
Communication was their strength
Reassurance was their key
They loved it with all their heart
They told it stories
They sang to it
They played soothing music to it
They had a lavish baby shower...
They eagerly awaited its birth...
The d day arrived...
It was a pre planned c section...
The baby boy arrived...
Yes it did have the syndrome
Yes it was deformed...
But it had something very few souls have...
Unconditional acceptance...
No pressure of performance...
Pure love...
No the baby did not turn out to be extra ordinary....
No he did not do something outstanding...
But as a team of 3...
And they decided to ward off their karma together...
Strong... Unshaken...
Proud of having each other as a part of their blueprint for this lifetime...
Some stories aren't tales...
They are just journeys...
Ongoing...
Precious...
Inspiring...

TALE 14 - Spiral

It was a late Sunday noon
She woke up after a long post brunch siesta...
Made some ginger tea and sat by the window pane with a book of poems
One by one as she kept reciting...
The sun set down...
And she realised that she was hungry...
She needed to fix dinner...
Too bored to cook for herself she decided to order a pizza...
So pizza with soda and a ROM com to go with it...
Such a perfect evening it was...
Post dinner she opened a tub of chocorock icecream...
Divine she thought...
As soon as she finished the tub there was a wave...
A wave of displeasure and guilt...
The feel good phase vanished in thin air
She hated herself at that moment
The pizza has ruined it
The coke was the villian
The icecream felt like a devil
Even the ginger tea had a sugar bomb in it...
Grrrrr ahhhhh ufffff she grunted and growled...
She felt heavy very heavy...
She felt like a culprit...
She wanted to throw up...
She couldn't sleep...
In anger she poured herself a glass of wine....
Gulped it up in a jiffy...
Lit a few cigarettes and smoked the night out...
Cried herself to sleep sometime early in d morning...
Woke up to a bad blue Monday...
Not fitting in the dress she bought on an impulse a week back...
Not able to fix a decent breakfast...
Eating the muffins on the buffet...
Skipping the lunch to make up...
Hogging junk for her evening snacks...
Puffing light every now n then along with coffee mugs to stay awake...
Bloated and angry on the world...
She rushes home just to crash in a bad mood...
That certainly was the worst start to her week...
And her life continued...
Weeks after weeks...
Being overweight addicted overindulgent and frustrated single woman working in a corporate world...
A reality for many women around...
High time....
Wake up call...
Get up...
Move...
Live...
Clean up your act....
Breathe....
Thank...
SMILE...

TALE 13 - Uncooked

He never doubted her talent
He however doubted her efforts
He pricked her with sharp words of sarcasm
She hated him for that
He kept his doubts open...
She kept her ears open...
They had a cold war...
It was not her...
But her success that mattered...
It always came as one huge setback in their relationship...
This is a different love story
Where he fell in love with an artist that she was
And she fell in love with the man he was
Yet they failed to accept each other...
Whether she makes it or not...
If she proves herself or not...
Is for time to tell...
But he for sure was happy with himself...
They were great as individuals in their own league...
But together the chemistry failed...
They couldn't nail it...
They stayed together mutually..
For the sake of convenience...
Better off than staying alone in urban life...
They represented the life of many city couples of today...
Unhappily married in a convenient settlement...
Some tales are very real...
Happening around us...
‪#‎notsotinytales‬
- Prajakta Sathe

TALE 12 - Fifty-fifty

She was a good woman
She was well settled
She had a family
A decent life
He was a society labelled bad man
He was struggling
He had a dysfunctional family
A freewheeling life
They met talked connected
They fell for each other
Neither could she leave her family
Nor could he shun away the responsibility of a broken marriage
Both had inhibitions due to their kids...
Both felt like breaking all barriers and starting a life together
She did not like his spending habits but she was ready to bear
He couldn't bear her customised living but he was willing to adjust
They wanted to run away...
But there were kids...
And we humans are conditioned to function in a certain way...
To place our offsprings before us...
Even if they might never place us in their order of priority...
So they cribbed and complained and continued living...
Pretending to be happy...
Yeah they were together by not being together...
Sucks big time...
But oh so true...
We can't help some situations...
Such my friends...is life...
Cheers to compromises...
Cheers to double standards
Cheers to masks that we wear...

TALE 11 - The Rising

It was when he could make out the tears from her rain drenched smile did she understand the depth of his love....
One embrace washed off the salt from her face, immersing them in a sweet union...
She then let him cry for one last time...
Little did he know her craving for eternal love...
He couldn't shed another tear when she then lay still with a smile that couldn't be wiped off her lifeless body...
There was a closure.
She immortalised his death...
They lived in our memories ever after...

TALE 10 - Outcome

She looked in his sunken eyes for one last speck of familiarity...
He looked back with a nullifying gaze of strangeness.
Their destinies ran parallel but time ran faster than fate and crossed their limits of longing.
Both unlearned to love began to relieve repeat revive...
Past dropped it's veil, emerged as a lucid clear now.
They finally learned the art of meditation.

TALE 9 - 'Dreamover'

"That Prince swept me off my feet...
Flying his horse across the soft mushy rainbow laced clouds",
She narrated her dream to the green blades of grass, her all time loyal companions of gossip laughter and tears...
The jaded earth swinged swiftly along with the wind as if responding to her tale...
It was well past her deadline to be back in the dungeon.
Unknowingly she engrossed herself in the same sequence over n over again...
For in no time the rainbow, the greens, the frog prince, the crystal glass shoe, the pumpkin that turned into a chariot, the candy cottage , the dwarfs, the long locks of golden braided hair, the castle all seemed real.
She woke up yet again being a victim of her own tinytale.
Stretching her claws, shaking dust off her fins, brushing her horns across d rough wall to sharpen them she said to herself,"Fairies are for real!"
She believed in miracles...

TALE 8 - Recycled saga

He begged her to stay back to give him one last chance.
She had made peace with the fact that breaking promises was his art...
She left with a heavy heart.
They both had lessons to learn...
He never dared to make another promise ever...
She never managed to trust a person ever...
Then they both died...
They ll reborn in a similar cycle with different faces..
And the saga continues...

TALE 7 - 'The-void'

There were gossips about their relationship being on rocks.
Some said he ditched her some said she caught him red handed ...
No one knew, yet everyone spoke...
She snatched his phone in suspicion while he ruffled through her mails online...
Only thing that they found out was that they weren't in love with each other.
Real love never doubts...
Real love sets free...
Real love lucidly gives more than it takes.
Real love is secure...
Their love was pretence.
They had to grow more to learn this way of living...
They... Broke off... N glad they did...
For this relationship taught them the value of faith...

-Prajakta Sathe

TALE 6 - Blind love...

She wanted to surprise him...
She wrote an anonymous letter...
She thought he would recognise her right away...
So she kept waiting...
He fell for the anonymous girl and never met the real her...
He waited for another letter which never came...
She tried meeting him umpteen times...
But he avoided her and curiously kept looking for the anonymous...
She missed him...
He missed the anonymous...
They remained...
Incomplete...
‪#‎notsotinytales‬
-Prajakta Sathe

TALE 5 - Collateral...

She smiled He laughed
She nibbled He hogged
She posed He bogged
She strutted He strolled
She was shy He was bold
They didn't know each other
Until the night when they saw themselves in the arms of their respective lovers in a restaurant celebrating anniversary.
Their lovers had met each other before them...
Their lovers were exactly the same.
Their lovers knew each other.
In fact they had begun to love each other.
There was an urgent rush of the equals to introduce the opposites.
Little did they know... That the opposites had one thing in common...
Opposites did not leave their lovers but they set them free that night.
Because they had one thing in common liberation.

- Prajakta Sathe.

TALE 4 - Uneven

Because the baby woke up...
She said... Sorry....
He got angry and went back to bed sulking...
Tired weary excruciatingly exhausted; the new mom tried to convince herself that this would be a case with all couples new to parenting...
He started snoring in a jiffy...
She tossed n turned in guilt...
He woke up late and in a crappy mood blaming it all on her...
Sleep deprived she; carries on with her chores as a mom a wife a cook a cleaner a nanny and much more...
The baby's giggles keep her going...
Husband returns late, but in anticipation...
She wants to make him happy...
The baby sleeps just in time...
Then He sleeps in peace...
And finally tonight she sleeps without self accusation...
Some equations aren't always equal.
‪#‎notsotinytales‬
- Prajakta Sathe.

TALE 3 - Two-gether

Married for long...she set the table right
Some fresh jasmine flowers floating in an earthen pot laced with candle lights
The cutlery, the glass wear, the ambience, the mood setting, the music....
Everything was beyond perfect...
She waited for him dressed impeccably from head to toe
Her heart raced fast, as the time of his arrival neared...
Heartbeats louder than the sax playing on d background, she heard his car being parked...
The reports were with him...
He came... He saw her... He cried...
She looked at him...
She knew him for his love for her...
And these tears were storytellers...
She poured their glasses with Rosé
They clinked...
To celebrate what life had written for them...
Without challenging destiny...
‪#‎notsotinytales‬
- Prajakta Sathe.

TALE 2 - S{'he'}

He was never able to manage on his own due to massive hangovers from previous night's booze...
He ate drank kicked slept, fagged gibbered in semi conscious stage...
She stuck to her schedule finished her meets tasks n deadlines...
Famished tired but calm she returned home everyday....
To find him in another round of drinkathon...
He had decided to get high before the spirit fades off from his bloodstream...
She had decided to get on with life and provide for them
She had made a commitment
She had loved
She had moved in
He had decided to get on with addiction
He had accepted her commitment
He had enjoyed her love
He had let her move in
Not that she didn't try getting him off
Not that he hurt her intentionally
And yet the story continued...
In a house at a stone's throw away distance from us...
We however have decided to watch n talk n write about it and do what everyone does...just be...
They lived unhappily ever after...

TALE 1 - Wise kiss...

He saw her at his bachelorette
A waitress with honey brown eyes
Something inside shunned him from touching alcohol
His friends booed him coaxed him forced him
He refused straight off
She wasn't a stripper nor was she interested in the outcome or avenues of such a party
She served the starters with a faint smile and sparkling confidence
He couldn't take his eyes off her
He knew there was a story to that night
As if she smiled because she knew that he knew
They sneaked outside the bar at the basement parking lot
He asked her what her problem was
Her eyes twinkled in glee...
This smile he said... And your eyes... Are so disturbing... They ve set me off the enjoyment radar...
I m unsure... Does this happen at every bachelorette? He asked...
She hugged him tight... She said,
"There are going to be numerous instances of lure, temptations again and again in life after this wedding...
Its upto you... Whether u deal it with control or blow it off is your choice... If u refrain or indulge is again ur choice
If u then share it with ur spouse or not is again your choice...
Your wedlock will culminate into a marriage only if u understand that the LOCK in the wedding is just a concept... No one absolutely no one actually is answerable to what u do... Except for yourself... If u can live with the choices u make, hell u r d boss... If u don't... You are at loss...
Do you want to come with me for the night???" - she asked
Guess boozing is a better choice for today then... I don't have the guts to mess up with full awareness... I haven't even had a peg yet - he said.
She laughed her heart out, " there u go..."
"Oh, but wait....who are you mysterious beauty???" He asked.
Kissing him on his forehead she answered, " A
 lesson"...

everything else is far below LOVE
it is never too late to experience LOVE all over again

प्रेम---> मोक्ष

Face off

Contemporary way of living has made us think that all that we do or rather appear to be doing is for good of us society at large and our near n dear ones i.e. friends family and acquaintances... is it so? or is it our mask? to camouflage our insecurities? where there is mind over matter and heart over mind... in reality do we ever care or bother to speak out. it was just recently that I have begun to shed inhibition one at a time and also some conditioning. getting out of the cocoon of comfort and social makeup is difficult. But i don't want to wake up one day and realise that its already half past my life and i still haven't said a thing of what i need to say. i m going to speak my mind from now on and speak from heart. such things seldom hurt people. But diplomacy is banned for good and so is hypocrisy. if u ask me something i will speak in black and white. no shady business here. lets c how this works... if i m able to handle the clarity, also wud help me find people whom i would really like to be with... Need to unlearn goodness for good is not always true...

OPEN UP...

R.I.P.

Lessons...

Another eventful day in the diary of an urban mum... brand new set of weights was introduced to me by my dear fitness trainer... and whoa man they are good... i mean real good!!! the workout was fantabulous... tons of adrenaline pumping. sweet sweat of muscle power? Proved yet again that a good workout session is way better than most awesome orgasm in a lifetime. did my morning routine jig... went to a place that i did not want to be, but was surprised to find time for myself. talking to oneself as in self dialogue is extremely crucial. realised many things.

Actualisation

With the onset of winter, the wind of longing go beyond tolerance levels... The storms inside blow up... cooling down the aura with anticipation.... yes HE is coming. The moment I ve been waiting for is right here...only about 3 weeks to go and He ll be right in front of my eyes... What kind of vibrations will the grand entity carry, is beyond my humane imagination... My love for him has just grown day by day into something that can only be felt by an energy presence. my soul is already at that moment when our eyes will meet. was the love of meera purer or truer than radha 's? what relationship would they share? little did i realise that coming from one source, we are just fragments of each other and loving others actuallizes self love... the energy that this kind of love generates is more than nuclear fusion or atomic fission... it is surreal... beyond understanding of our brain... what matters at the end of the day that HE is god for me... I am his, He is mine... We are ONE...

Philosophically yours...

There has been an undermining urge to express... may it be in dressing, talking or penning down. Its been hard to suppress this desire... as funny as it may seem, I am close to shutting down my stress lobes in brain just to emerge calm and untethered beneath.

on the other side I go expo shopping like youngsters go club hopping. call it the 30s syndrome call it the unsatiating urge to feel look and be young... nothing no matter any damn thing can stop me... feeling like a two faced woman with split personality as i turn on to the very right side of Thirty... Diwali is just round the corner, so many things to be done... yet I am chilled...

what i seem to panic about are the least imp. things.... of all minor things like smiling more in the day or making it a point to read a page before I sleep... too many things in cramped compartments of this brain... guess i need some more retail therapy... currentky the only way to nirvana... ahem.... I meant AMEN...
;P
