weekend mejwani....

no no........i m not talking about the popular cooking show on E.TV. But my experience with the new Israely cuisine in colaba....a warm corner hub with a chilled out ambiance lies bang opposite the Regal cinema at colaba. i discovered this place when i went on to my weekend getaway to chatrapati shivaji maharaj vastu sangrahalaya.....the old prince of wales museum.... we were tired-thirsty and hastily dialled yellow pages for the rating and were pleasantly surprised...... i was told that the Jews invented this cuisine and Hebrews promoted it. It was a hit in barcelona and amsterdam.......mmmmmmmmm.....i was impressed!!!
the pita bread
......an arabic version of the cross between an idli X a dosa + and a hint of pizza.....was soft and fluffy....my concern was the white flour used in it(maida to b precise) arrived with an accompaniment of the HUMMUS and FALAFEL.......minced chickpeas dip with seasame garlic flavour and greenish chickpea spicy balls (deep fried) respectively.....this came along with a serving of salad, pickle and an olive oil greasy red paste to add the zing.....we went with the in-house lemonade and our very own diet coke to go with this.......we had an option of substituting the falafel with mushrooms or a choice of other veg toppings.......(which obviously dint attract us)....i was decently satisfied with the new taste. though i wudnt go back to have it, i wud recomend u ppl to sample with this stuff.......its different!!!
